Privacy policy
Last updated: 12 July 2026
The “Aktual” app gathers news from Azerbaijan and around the world and presents it to you. We respect your privacy and process only the data needed to run and improve the app. The app shows no advertising and carries no third-party ad tracking — only product analytics. When you use the app without an account, those analytics are tied to anonymous/pseudonymous identifiers; when you are signed in, they are tied to your user ID (see below).
Data we collect
- Anonymous device identifier: a random identifier generated on your device. Used for notifications and personalisation even without an account.
- Notification token (APNs): used to deliver breaking news and daily briefing notifications, only if you grant permission.
- Your preferences: the region and interest categories you choose (used to personalise the feed).
- Optional account: if you choose to sign in, your email address or phone number is processed through Firebase Authentication (Google).
- Reading history, saved stories and followed sources: when you are signed in, this state is stored on the server so it can sync across devices; it is deleted when the account is deleted. Without an account this data stays on your device only.
- Product analytics: anonymous usage statistics about which screens are opened and which features are used are collected through Amplitude (EU data centre); when you are signed in they are associated with your user ID.
- Crash reports: when the app crashes, a report along with the device model and iOS version is collected through Firebase Crashlytics.
- Signal (beta) reports: when you voluntarily submit an incident report, your photo and precise location are stored on the server for moderation.
How we use the data
- To personalise the feed to your interests and region;
- To send the notifications you have allowed;
- To link your optional account to your device and sync your state across devices;
- To analyse usage statistics in order to improve the app, and to detect and fix crashes;
- To moderate incident reports submitted through Signal.
Third parties
Firebase Authentication, Sign in with Google and Sign in with Apple are used for account sign-in. Notifications are delivered through the Apple Push Notification service (APNs). Amplitude is used for product analytics and Google Firebase Crashlytics for crash reports. News content is gathered from third-party news sources, and the source of every story is shown.
Deleting your data
You can permanently delete your account at any time in the app under Settings → Delete account. Deleting the app removes all local data stored on the device (saved stories, followed sources, preferences).
Children
The app is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect data from children.
